The Swedish Cancer Institute in Seattle, Washington offers integrated and compassionate care to people diagnosed with cancer. While receiving care for a cancer diagnosis, people frequently experience a disruption in their income. The loss of work hours while in treatment is financially devastating for some. Swedish Medical Center has responded to meet the needs of people suffering financial difficulties due to a cancer diagnosis by establishing the Cancer Patient Financial Assistance Fund. This fund supports patients who face significant financial struggles while being treated for cancer. It helps people meet their non-medical expenses such as mortgage and car payments, phone and electric bills, and pay for food and transportation costs.
